Award Selection

ELIGIBILITY

Candidates for the award must display:

  • passion for French language;
  • dedication to righting wrongs;
  • commitment to sustainable change;
  • zeal for tackling difficult problems and an appetite for discovery

It will be considered a plus for applicants to possess a quick wit and keen sense of humor.

Any University student with at least one year remaining at the University will be eligible for this award.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Written proposal outlining purpose, objectives, work program, and expected outcome of project and evidence of building on lessons of experience;
  • Letter of support from host community;
  • Letter from a faculty advisor who has agreed to advise and support the project;
  • Evidence of passion for and proficiency in French language;
  • Statement of interest in pursuing the award

SELECTION PROCESS

Applications for the Hannah Graham Memorial Award(s) will be solicited from across the University and candidates will be screened by Global Development Studies and Center for Global Health faculty.  Final selection of the recipient(s) will be made by the Board of Trustees after interviewing short-listed candidates. Administrative support for this process will be provided jointly by representatives from the Office of the Vice President and Chief Student Affairs Officer, the Alumni Association, the Center for Global Health, and the Global Development Studies department.

Any changes to this selection process must be ratified by a majority vote of the Board of Trustees.
